Performs the driving, delivering and warehouse activities to ensure expedient order flow, maximize customer satisfaction, ensure timely deliveries, protect company assets and maximize revenue.
The Delivery Representative position is a multi-faceted position. The CDL Class B Driver drives a diesel-powered Bobtail and/or Tractor Trailer, automatic or 10-speed sometimes long distances, over predetermined routes to transport and deliver food and/or related products in packaged form; drives vehicle to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways. Inspects truck for truck condition.
Maintains driver log according to D.O.T. regulations. May assist workers in loading vehicle. Unloads products from vehicle upon reaching destination. May work as member of two-person team driving tractor with sleeper bunk behind cab for long haul. May clean inside of truck or trailer, and may direct driver helper to load or unload truck and carry merchandise.
The Delivery Representative interacts on a daily basis with customers while making deliveries to their places of business, including collection of money from customers, recording transactions on customer receipt, recording customer credits for returned product, listening to and resolving service or delivery complaints, and reporting complaints and/or problems to supervisors upon return to office. May collect overdue payments from customers and issue receipt. Collects or picks up empty containers, rejected product and issues or obtains customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
Responsible for the general sanitation of tractor and trailer.
The Delivery Representative position is a manual handling, labor intensive job. Considerable strength and endurance is required to safely and successfully perform this job. These strength and endurance demands are due to the weight of the merchandise handled and the frequency with which it is handled. The work takes place in normal warehouse environments as well as in cooler and freezer compartments where the worker is exposed to cold and very cold temperatures.
