This position provides support in the day-to-day operations of the transportation department. Performs the logistics routing, scheduling, communicating, and administrative activities required to ensure transportation internal/external compliance, and ensure timely deliveries.
Supervise drivers on the day to day deliveries to our customers; schedule all potential backhauls, and special deliveries.
Prepare schedules, and work with Transportation Manager on routing and equipment needs.
Train and supervise drivers. Monitor and coach their performance and conduct driver evaluations. Work with HR on pre-employment testing and selection.
Maintain a positive working relationship with employee. Initiate or authorize employee hire, promotions, and discharge; as well as monitor and control attendance policy and scheduling.
DOT Compliance Management. Will insure DOT compliance including driver logs, route weights and trip reporting.
Communicate with all Supervisors, Managers, Dispatchers, CSR’s and Account Managers of any problems or special delivery request and hotshots.
Direct and coordinate all maintenance of equipment with Ryder and other third party vendors.
Monitor and control all electronic logging devices/On Board Computer and log reports. Also, monitor Drive Cam and coach driver events.
Provide safety management to driver personnel. Work with the Safety Manager in conducting accident and injury investigations. Assist in completing proper reports timely, with details.
Other related duties as assigned by Management.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Must have general knowledge of DOT regulations.
Must possess a valid Class A CDL license and have a good driving record as shown on current MVR, no moving violations or preventable accidents in the last 12 months.
Must have ability to read and comprehend computer printouts.
Must have ability to write legibly.
Must have high school diploma or GED or equivalent knowledge/education.
Must have the ability to take direction, comprehend instructions and work well with others.
Must have the ability to speak effectively, and clear articulation for the purpose of relaying important and immediate information to customers, drivers, and employees of Doerle Food Service.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and operating basic office equipment.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
